Villarreal then tried to reduce the deficit and come back, but they were met with a solid defense from “Blaugrana”.
With that result, Barcelona strengthened their lead in the Spanish league standings, raising their points tally to 46. Villarreal, meanwhile, came in fourth place with 35 points.
