Doha, Qatar – The struggle intensified within Group C of the 2025 Arab Cup, for the second qualifying spot, after Egypt drew with the UAE in the second round of matches.
Egypt and the UAE drew 1-1 in the match that took place yesterday at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
The UAE’s goal was scored by Caio Lucas in the 60th minute, while Egypt’s goal was scored by Marwan Hamdi in the 85th minute.
The draw moved Egypt to second place with two points, behind leaders the UAE with six points. The UAE are in third place with one point, followed by Kuwait in last place, also with one point.
The chances of the UAE and Egypt qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Arab Cup
First: Scenarios for Egypt’s qualification
Egypt needs to win the next match against Jordan in order to officially secure qualification without considering the result of the UAE and Kuwait match.
Egypt can also qualify for the quarter-finals if they draw with Jordan, provided that the UAE and Kuwait also draw.
However, if the Egyptian national team draws and either the Emirati or Kuwaiti national team wins, its tally will stop at 3 points and it will be eliminated from the tournament.
Second: Scenarios for the UAE national team to qualify for the quarter-finals
The UAE national team’s chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals have become more precarious after their draw against Egypt.
The UAE national team needs to win its next match against Kuwait, while Egypt does not win against Jordan, in order to officially qualify.
However, in case of a draw or a loss, they will be eliminated from the tournament early from the group stage.
Date of the UAE vs Kuwait match in the third round of the Arab Cup
The UAE national team is scheduled to meet Kuwait next Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
