Cairo, Egypt – Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reported that the Giza Criminal Court decided to extend the detention of Pyramids FC player Ramadan Sobhi and three other defendants in the exam forgery case until December 30.

The case relates to the forgery of documents pertaining to exams at a tourism and hotel institute in the Abu Nimras area of Giza.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution had previously decided to release Sobhi on bail of 100,000 Egyptian pounds on charges of forgery. The prosecution summoned the young man accused of forgery to appear before the examination committee in place of the player, in order to confront him with the latter.

The incident dates back to last May. A man was apprehended inside a tourism and hotel institute in the Abu Nimras area while taking an exam on behalf of footballer Ramadan Sobhi. During the investigation, the accused confessed to receiving money from the player in exchange for entering the exam hall and taking the exam for him.
