Fahad Al Amin won the main race of the Egyptian round of the President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses. The race was held on Saturday, October 25, at the Gezira Club track in Cairo. It was supervised by owner Riyad Jalal Abu Hussein and trainer Riyad Rizk. It was ridden by jockey Abdul Maqsoud Shaaban. Second place went to Munadil Saafan, and third place went to Diban Al Tahawiya.
The track hosted the 15th round of the 32nd edition of the UAE President’s Cup Series for Arabian Horses. Organized and supervised by the Egyptian Racing Authority, 59 horses participated in seven heats. Distances ranged from 1,300 to 1,600 meters on sandy ground.
The results of the other six rounds were as follows: Hamas won the first round, Al-Mogi won the second, Mard Akhenaten won the third, Dayma Amer won the fourth, Maqbool Akhenaten won the sixth, and Mabrouka Saafan won the seventh.
Muslim Al Ameri, a member of the Supreme Organizing Committee, said: “Hosting the 15th leg in Egypt reflects its historical standing and embodies the strength of the fraternal relations between the UAE and Egypt in supporting purebred Arabian horses. The support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed represents the cornerstone of the series’ success.”
He added that the committee is keen to support owners and breeders in Egypt. It aims to present this event to promote wider participation in various races. This aims to preserve the identity of the Arabian horse and support its global spread.
For his part, Ahmed Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Egyptian Horse Racing Authority, confirmed the success of the Egyptian leg, as well as the wide participation despite the challenges, noting the leg’s status as one of the most prestigious races in the series. Launched on April 20 in Tunisia, the series includes 17 races in Europe, Britain, Turkey, the Arab world, the United States, and Russia. There are two remaining leg races in Libya and Saudi Arabia.
The total prize money for the races is EGP 3,848,500, including cash prizes for the seven-day event and bonuses for the top finishers, trainers, and jockeys.
