Marco Ping advances to second place in the “Race to Dubai” on the DB World Golf Tour

Marco Ping advances to second place in the "Race to Dubai" on the DB World Golf Tour
Players seek to be in the top 70 to qualify for the final qualifiers in the UAE/WAM

Madrid, Spain – Englishman Marco Ping achieved his third victory this season on the DB World Golf Tour.

This was achieved by winning the Spanish Open Championship, which was held in the capital, Madrid.

To advance to second place in the “Race to Dubai” standings issued on Monday.

This is before the two closing stations in the UAE next November.

In the playoff round, Ping outperformed his compatriot Daniel Brown. He scored three hits compared to four hits for the latter.

After they tied at the end of the four rounds with a total of 15 under par.

Financial prize

Ping won a financial prize exceeding half a million US dollars. In addition, he gained 835 points. This raised his score to 3,691 points, occupying second place behind the leader. The defending champion, Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy, has 4,084 points.

This is Ping’s third title this season. He previously won the Hainan Chinese Championship in April and the Genesis Scotland Open last July.

Note that the player has never won any title on the tour during the past seasons.

He settled for 110th place in the “Race to Dubai” classification in 2024.

For his part, Daniel Brown obtained 555 points, strengthening his position in the standings.

To rise to tenth place with 1992 points.

Swiss Joel Gerbach came in third place with 14 under par.

To add 312 points to its score and occupy 60th place with 775 points, this maintains its hopes of qualifying for the final qualifiers.

The current season of the DB World Tour, which is held under the slogan “Race to Dubai”, will witness the holding of 42 tournaments in 26 countries.

The players are seeking to be in the top 70 to qualify for the final qualifiers in the UAE.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship will kick off at Yas Links Club from November 6 to 9.

This will be followed by the DB World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Real Estate Golf Club. It will take place from November 13 to 16, 2025.
