Beirut, Lebanon – The UAE national athletics team raised its tally to 7 medals in the third West Asian Championship for young men and women under 20 years of age, “Beirut 2025”.

This came after adding two gold medals and a silver medal yesterday evening in the competitions that conclude on Sunday. These events have the participation of about 250 male and female players from 10 countries.
Runner Maryam Karim continued her brilliance in the championship, winning her second gold medal in the young women’s 100-meter hurdles race. She completed the race with a time of 14.04 seconds. She beat Syrian Rayan Hassan who finished at “14.06” seconds, and Jordanian Nancy Abu Sarhan at “17.33” seconds. Previously, she won the gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the opening of the championship.
The UAE national team also won team gold in the 400-meter mixed relay final.
With the participation of Maryam Karim, Amani Qamar El-Din, Saeed Shoaib, and Abdel Quddous Ahmed Ali, he succeeded in breaking the championship and state records. They achieved a time of 3.26.62 minutes.
Al-Yazia Tariq won the silver medal in the 600-gram javelin throw, over a distance of 32.0.9 meters. This set a new record for the state in the young women’s and women’s categories.
This came after she won gold in the pole competitions at the opening of the tournament.
Runners Suleiman Abdel Rahman and Abdel Quddus Ahmed qualified for the final of the 400-meter race. They topped the preliminary qualifiers in Saturday’s competitions.
Khawla Sajwani, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Athletics Federation, praised the distinguished results in the tournament. She noted the progress towards second place in the overall standings, with 7 medals.
This enhances the great value of the promising elements in the national team. These results align with future plans to raise the level of competitiveness in foreign tournaments.
It is noteworthy that the UAE national athletics team won 4 medals at the opening of the tournament. These included two gold, a silver, and a bronze.
