Dubai, UAE – The curtain has come down on the International Modern Pentathlon Level 1 Referees Course, hosted in Dubai under the supervision of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) and organized by the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation. The course, which ran from September 9 to 13, 2025 at the UAE National Olympic Committee headquarters, brought together 41 referees from across the country for a week of intensive training and development.

The event began with a special tribute to the UAE U-15 National Team, who recently won the bronze medal at the 1st Arab Championships for National Teams in Alexandria, Egypt (August 13–18, 2025). Honorees included coach Mohammed Qasim Khalil and players Dhiab Omar Saeed Al Ketbi, Salem Musbah Al Ketbi, Salem Tamim Al Ketbi, and Humaid Saeed Al Ketbi.

In addition, the international lecturer Agnes Kulcsar, appointed by the UIPM to lead and supervise the course, was recognized for her outstanding contribution to the program’s success.

Advancing Refereeing Standards in the UAE

In her keynote remarks, Dr. Huda Al Matroushi extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees, while highlighting the pivotal role of H.E. Mohammed Sultan Al Ketbi in facilitating the practical training sessions, ensuring the availability of resources, and supporting the federation since its inception.

She also praised the presence of H.E. Saeed Ali Al Ajeel and commended the participants for their dedication, noting that the referees who completed the course will form a solid foundation for the growth and professionalization of modern pentathlon in the UAE.

Dr. Al Matroushi stressed that organizing such international courses is a core component of the Federation’s strategic vision to develop officiating cadres in accordance with the highest international standards, thereby strengthening the UAE’s position on both the continental and global stages in modern pentathlon.
