Brno, Czech Republic – The UAE national shooting team for people with disabilities will begin its competitions tomorrow in the seventh edition of the World Paralympic Shooting Championship “Al-Turab”.

The event will be hosted by the Czech city of Brno during the period from September 9 to 15. It will include the participation of an elite group of the most prominent shooters in the world.

The UAE national team is represented in the competitions by four shooters: Ahmed Abu Haliba, Saif Hilal Al Humairi, Mohammed Hashel Al Habsi, and Mohammed Ali Al Hashemi.

The UAE Paralympic Shooting has a distinguished record in this sport.

Ahmed Abu Haliba previously won the bronze medal in the fifth edition of the World Championships. This was held in Lima, the capital of Peru, in 2023.

Before that, Al Ain hosted the fourth edition of the same tournament in 2022.

This has strengthened the country’s position as one of the founding and active countries in this sport worldwide and regionally.

Dhiban Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee, confirmed that the team is participating with the ambition of competing for the first places.

The team bases this on the competence and experience of its players. They also consider the long history of sports in the UAE, which is a pioneer in the region.

Al-Muhairi pointed out that the team completed an intensive training camp in the Czech Republic. It lasted about two weeks to raise readiness before the start of the tournament.
