Al Ain, United Arab Emirates – Amidst a large audience presence and the distinguished participation of more than 1,000 male and female athletes from more than 60 countries around the world.. Today, the curtain fell on the opening edition of the Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025, which kicked off at the ADNEC Center in Al Ain over three days of exciting fights and strong competition.
This tournament is organized by World Vision Sports Management Company “IVSM” in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi and under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals.
The closing day’s competitions were attended and the winners were crowned by Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi; Saeed Al Dhaheri, Director of the Tourist Destinations Department at the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi; and Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of World Vision Sports Management Company.
The closing day of the tournament witnessed the holding of the final matches for the professional category, where an elite group of grappling champions from the region and the world shined and presented strong performances, so that at the end of the day the winners of the medals, cash prizes and classification points awarded by the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals would be crowned.
At the conclusion of the third day’s competitions, Commando Group Academy succeeded in achieving first place, followed by Adma Academy in second place, and MOD Academy in third place.
Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of World Vision Sports Management Company, said that this tournament consolidates the position of Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain region as a global destination for world-class sports tournaments, and expands the scope of interest in the sport of grappling among different age groups, and we look forward in the coming editions to developing the event further, both in terms of the volume of participation and the quality of organization, to always remain at the level of the aspirations of athletes and the public alike.
“It’s great to have a tournament dedicated to grapling and the experience here was special in every way, from the organisation to the number of players involved and even the great treatment we received and I look forward to coming back and participating again,” said Caroline Vinhaes, Pyramid Grapling Association Academy player who won gold in the over-18 55kg category.
Boya Rahmani, Tim Nogueira Academy player who won the gold medal in the over-18 professional 125 kg category, expressed his happiness at winning the gold medal in the first edition of this world-class tournament, the first of its kind in the world, and I intend to participate in next year’s edition. I will not miss this wonderful experience here amidst this large audience and distinguished organization.
Over the course of three days, the tournament witnessed remarkable participation from the professional, amateur and junior categories, and recorded a large audience presence, consolidating its position as a sports event specialized in grapling at the regional and global levels.
