New York, USA – The social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, experienced a widespread technical outage on Saturday. This resulted in service disruptions for thousands of users worldwide, including in several countries in the Arab region.
Details of the malfunction and the most prominent problems
Platform users began reporting various technical issues in the early hours of this morning. Complaints centered around:
Loading failures: Information not displaying on the timeline, with white screens or “continuous loading” messages appearing.
Disappearing content: Tweets appear and disappear randomly without the ability to interact or comment.
Publishing and blogging: It is not possible to publish new blog posts or update photos and videos via the app and website.
Specialized website reports
Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, recorded a sharp increase in user reports. The site indicated that the outage was not limited to a specific geographic area but extended to the United States, Europe, and large parts of the Middle East. While service has been partially restored for some users, browsing remains extremely slow and unstable, with the familiar error message “Something went wrong… Please try reloading” still appearing.
Official silence and repeated breakdowns
As of yet, neither X nor its engineering account has issued an official statement explaining the technical reasons behind this outage. This disruption is the latest in a series of outages the platform has experienced since the beginning of January. Technology experts have raised questions about the sustainability of the platform’s infrastructure following recent structural changes.
