Abu Dhabi, UAE – Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said that the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and Arab countries are illegal and unjustified.
She stressed the UAE’s ability to defend its people and residents, and its readiness to deal with all paths.
Her Excellency the Minister explained that “Iran has taken illegal and unjustified measures by launching attacks on the UAE and a number of other countries in the Gulf and outside it, which is unacceptable.”
She added: “We have one of the best defense systems in the world, and we are confident in our ability to continue supporting our infrastructure and protecting those who live here. It is important to assure citizens and residents that we have one of the best air missile defense systems in the world, and that we are doing everything we can to ensure continued security and safety.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi said: “Whatever path they choose, we will be prepared for it. We do not want further escalation, and we call for calm”.
She pointed out the UAE’s success in intercepting Iranian missiles and drones.
She also stressed that “the ball is in Iran’s court regarding how it dealt with its neighbor, who was a good neighbor to it.”
She pointed out that “the door to diplomacy never closes. We want to reduce the escalation and find other security arrangements that are beneficial to this wider region.” Iran is and will remain our geographical neighbor, and we share many ecosystems in an interconnected region, but it is important to realize that it takes two parties.
She said: “At this stage, we are witnessing a barrage of attacks not only against the UAE, but also against other countries in the Gulf, Jordan, Iraq, and others”. This is a major escalation that does not reflect Iran’s desire to be a cooperative part of this neighborhood.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashemi stressed the strong relationship between the UAE and the United States.
She added: “We also have strong partnerships in the countries of the region and beyond, and the most important thing is to find a way out of more war in this region, which has witnessed enough”.
