Washington, DC – In a move that sparked a mix of political astonishment and military tension, US President Donald Trump posted a map of the Strait of Hormuz on his official Truth Social account. He then changed its name to “Trump Strait.”
Trump: “I rarely make mistakes.”
Trump first used the new term during a public address, remarking sarcastically—according to the BBC—that the media might initially think the name was simply an “accidental mistake.” He then added, laughing, “Everyone knows I rarely make mistakes.”
Observers believe the term reflects Trump’s desire to establish complete American dominance over the strategic waterway. It is worth noting that a third of the world’s oil supply passes through this waterway.
Military briefing at the White House
On the ground, sources familiar with the matter told Axios that the White House is witnessing intense military activity today, Thursday. President Trump is expected to receive a classified briefing from Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command. The briefing will focus on “new plans for potential military action against Iran.” Therefore, expectations have risen for an imminent strike aimed at easing the disruption to international shipping.
Iranian mockery and warning of “price madness”
In response, Iran’s reaction was swift and defiant, with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf mocking the threats from Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bissett. Ghalibaf wrote on the X platform: “After three days, not a single oil well has exploded… We can extend the operation to 30 days with a live broadcast of the well here.”
Qalibaf warned that Bessent’s “useless” advice had already pushed oil prices above $120 a barrel. He further threatened that the next step would be for the price to reach $140 a barrel. He concluded by saying that the real crisis lies not in economic theories, but in the “way of thinking” of the US administration, which is leading the world toward an unprecedented energy catastrophe.
