Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese writer and researcher Khaled Zeineddine launched a scathing attack on the leadership of Lebanese political parties. He directed harsh criticism at various political forces, from Hezbollah and the Amal Movement to the Future Movement and other parties. He accused them of undermining national identity and engaging in regional conflicts at the expense of Lebanon’s interests.
Zeineddine stated that “Lebanese parties have destroyed national identity to serve regional agendas.” He asserted that the country has been transformed from “a civilized Eastern nation” into an arena for sectarian strife. He further indicated that this was achieved by exploiting ignorance and backwardness to serve foreign countries and agendas.
He added that what Lebanon is witnessing today is the result of accumulated partisan policies. These policies have deepened internal divisions and weakened state institutions. He stressed that the continuation of this approach threatens the country’s future and national unity.
The Lebanese researcher also criticized the government’s performance, particularly in some service-oriented ministries. He pointed out that the Ministries of Education and Social Affairs suffer from a lack of experience and a lack of confidence in their performance. This comes amidst increasing challenges that require competent individuals capable of managing vital issues.
This escalation comes against the backdrop of complex political and economic conditions in Lebanon. There are also repeated calls to rebuild the state on national foundations, free from sectarian polarization and foreign dependency.
