London, Britain – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that his government is working diligently to find swift and effective solutions to halt Iran’s escalating threats against its neighbors in the Arabian Gulf region. He emphasized that the region’s security is a cornerstone of international peace and security.

Strengthening the military and defense presence

In official remarks addressing the latest regional developments, Starmer revealed that the United Kingdom had taken immediate operational measures to protect the lives of British citizens and secure vital interests in the region. The Prime Minister explained that British forces are playing a pivotal role in supporting regional partners.

He said: “Thousands of our military personnel are deployed in Cyprus and across the region, and three fighter jets are currently operating alongside specialized drone teams to intercept Iranian attacks and ensure the safety of navigation and civilian infrastructure.” Starmer emphasized that this military deployment is part of Britain’s unwavering commitment to the security of the Gulf. He noted that British air defenses have proven highly effective in countering attempts to destabilize the region.

Diplomatic activity and a warning against “Putin’s game”

On the political front, the British Prime Minister affirmed the continuation of intensive diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis. He also referred to the Foreign Secretary’s recent visits to the region and his ongoing communication with leaders in the Gulf and Europe. In a move linking international issues, Starmer warned of the danger of external powers exploiting this escalation.

He stated unequivocally: “It is crucial that we focus on supporting Ukraine at this stage; we cannot allow the war and unrest in the Gulf to be exploited by Russian President Vladimir Putin.” He added that London is aware of and is working to prevent the diversion of international attention from the European front by fueling conflict in the Middle East. Starmer concluded by emphasizing that Britain will remain a reliable ally to the countries of the region and will not hesitate to use its military and diplomatic tools to ensure that the Middle East does not descend into a spiral of unpredictable chaos.
