Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Malaysia strongly condemned what it described as Israel’s “illegal” land registrations in the occupied West Bank. It asserted that these actions constitute a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to the prospects for peace and a two-state solution.
In an official statement, the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that any unilateral steps aimed at altering the legal or demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territories are null and void and cannot be recognized. The Ministry also called on the international community to take a clear stance to halt what it termed “policies of imposing a fait accompli.”
The statement added that the land registrations are part of a broader strategy aimed at consolidating Israeli control over the West Bank. This, it said, would further complicate efforts to reach a just and lasting political settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Ministry reiterated its full support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state in accordance with international law.
This condemnation comes at a time of escalating international criticism of Israeli policies in the occupied territories. It follows warnings that administrative and legal measures concerning the land could lead to long-term changes on the ground, impacting any future negotiations.
Malaysia called on the United Nations and other international actors to take urgent action to ensure respect for international humanitarian law. It stressed that the continuation of such measures could lead to further tension and instability in the region, undermining the prospects for a comprehensive and just peace.
