Tehran, Iran – Iranian media reported that Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic, will travel to Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Tuesday, February 11, for a high-level diplomatic visit. According to reports, Larijani will discuss with Omani officials “the latest regional and international developments and bilateral cooperation at various levels.” This visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and Oman’s traditional role as a mediator in complex issues.
This visit coincides with a report published by The Jerusalem Post, citing two informed sources, that the US government has informed Tehran of its expectation that the Iranian negotiating team will attend the next meeting with “meaningful” content. This attendance should go beyond mere formalities and reflect actual progress in the negotiations.
Israeli media outlets, in a report on Sunday evening, February 9, quoted the same sources as saying that the first meeting between representatives of the Islamic Republic and the United States was described as “good,” but focused primarily on how to move the negotiations forward. The meeting did not address core issues such as the nuclear program and Iran’s regional influence. Larijani’s visit to Muscat is considered an important step in the context of regional and international efforts to reduce tensions. It also aims to ensure tangible progress in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
