Washington, United States – The United States has leveled direct and sharp accusations against the Iranian regime, pointing to its use of advanced military techniques to suppress peaceful protests in the country, in a move that Washington described as “waging war” against the citizens.
Drones to track protesters
The official Persian-language account of the U.S. State Department on its “X” platform revealed that the Iranian regime is resorting to using military drone technology as a tool for internal repression. The statement explained that these drones are not only used for reconnaissance purposes, but are systematically employed to: accurately identify individual protesters; track and monitor their movements in the field; and pursue them to facilitate arrests by security forces.
“Citizens are enemies”
In a strongly worded statement, the US State Department asserted that “the Islamic Republic regime views Iranian citizens as enemy combatants,” emphasizing that what is happening constitutes a war waged by the regime against its own people. The statement concluded with a warning: “The world sees what this regime is doing, and it will not be forgotten.”
Parliamentary action and support for the future
On the political front, Washington, D.C., witnessed a notable meeting between Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of President Donald Trump, and Prince Reza Pahlavi. During the meeting, Graham emphasized the Iranian people’s right to self-determination, stating, “The Iranian people will choose their next leader, and I look forward to the day they have that opportunity.” These remarks reflect a growing trend within American decision-making circles to support political change in Tehran and recognize the aspirations of the Iranian opposition.
