CARACAS, Venezuela – The Venezuelan government declared a national state of emergency across the country on Saturday morning, following what it described as a “large-scale US military attack” targeting vital facilities and strategic areas, including the capital, Caracas, pushing the country to the brink of open military confrontation.
Maduro: A serious aggression and a general mobilization
In a formal address to the nation, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro described the recent developments as a “very serious military aggression” led by the United States. Maduro announced the activation of emergency and maximum national defense plans, and called on all political, social, and popular forces to “mobilize fully” in defense of the country’s sovereignty.
Maduro also asserted that the aim of the attack was “to seize Venezuela’s oil and mineral wealth.”

According to the government statement, the attacks were concentrated in four main areas that witnessed loud explosions and heavy aircraft activity in the early hours of dawn: the capital Caracas, Miranda state, Aragua state, and La Guaira state.
Caracas accused the administration of US President Donald Trump of resorting to military force after the failure of its policies of economic pressure and oil embargo.
