Tehran, Iran – Iran has called on the UN Security Council and the international community to take an urgent and decisive stance in response to recent statements by former US President Donald Trump, in which he threatened to intervene to protect protesters inside Iran. Iran considers these statements a blatant violation of its national sovereignty and an escalation of regional tensions.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed in an official statement that any foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs will not be tolerated. It added that it reserves the full right to respond to any threat to its national security or stability. Tehran also called on the United Nations to issue a clear statement rejecting any external attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of states, in order to protect the rights of peoples and uphold international law.
The statement noted that Trump’s remarks come at a time when Iran is experiencing limited internal protests. It explained that attempting to portray these protests as a crisis warranting foreign intervention aims to undermine stability and sow chaos, which Tehran categorically rejects.
In mixed reactions, some UN member states urged diplomatic action to de-escalate the situation, while others expressed reservations about foreign intervention. They argued that any such move could lead to an uncontrolled escalation in the region. This comes at a time when Iran is seeking to assert its sovereignty and independence in its internal decisions in the face of international pressure.
