Aden, Yemen – Sources in the Southern Transitional Council denied on Wednesday reports that its forces had withdrawn from the positions they control in Hadramawt Governorate.
She stressed that these reports were completely false and fell within the framework of
what she described as “media warfare and systematic rumors”.
According to Sky News Arabia, sources said that the southern government forces
are holding onto all their positions and military deployment in Hadramawt.
Any talk of withdrawals is not based on facts on the ground, stressing that
the military situation is stable and under control.
A senior military leader in the southern government forces announced the implementation
of a large-scale military exercise in Hadramawt Governorate.
Raising the level of combat readiness
This is within the framework of raising combat readiness and enhancing preparedness to deal with any security emergency.
The leader accused parties affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood of spreading rumors
about the withdrawal of forces, in an attempt to destabilize the security situation and impose a fait accompli by force.
He stressed that the forces are fully prepared to counter any movements targeting their positions.
Nizar Haitham, Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council,
also warned of the continued terrorist threats in a number of southern governorates.
He believes that the threat from extremist groups has not yet ended.
He accused elements affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood within the Presidential Leadership Council
of seeking to incite discord and destabilize relations between the Arab coalition countries.
The forces will not withdraw
Earlier on Wednesday, the spokesman for the Southern Government Forces in Yemen,
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, confirmed that the forces would not withdraw from their current positions.
He explained that these deployments represent field gains achieved to enhance security
and stability in southern Yemen, and they will not be compromised.
In parallel, Shabwa Governorate witnessed a large influx of citizens to the sit-in square in the city of Ataq.
This is to participate in a public event in support of the Southern Transitional Council’s actions.
Local sources reported that the participants came from various districts of the governorate
amidst intensive organizational and security arrangements.
These popular and military movements come amid escalating political
activity in a number of southern provinces.
This is a confirmation of the demands for self-determination,
and support for the steps adopted by the Southern Transitional Council at the present stage.
