Moscow, Russia – Russian President Vladimir Putin described the European Court of Human Rights as “completely politicized.” He asserted that its rulings are biased against Moscow and lack the necessary legal objectivity.
In official remarks, Putin stated that Russia considers this court part of a political pressure mechanism targeting independent states. He affirmed that his country will not be swayed by its decisions and will continue to defend its legal sovereignty and national interests without backing down.
The Russian president noted that Moscow is committed to international law in its handling of human rights and political issues. He emphasized that Russia’s position will be consistent and independent in all matters relating to citizens’ rights and national sovereignty.
These statements come at a time of increasing tension in Russian-European relations, particularly regarding sanctions and human rights issues. Russia consistently rejects rulings by the European Court of Human Rights, deeming them politically biased.
Putin emphasized that Russia seeks to strengthen its judicial sovereignty both domestically and internationally, while safeguarding the rights of its citizens and defending the state’s interests against international pressure.
