Cairo, Egypt – Mounir Adib, a researcher in group affairs and national security, revealed the repercussions of the executive decision issued by US President Donald Trump regarding placing the Muslim Brotherhood groups on terrorism lists.
In exclusive statements to “Sawt Al Emarat,” Adeeb said he has 10 key points regarding this decision, which are:
First: Donald Trump instructed his Secretary of State and the Treasury Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization, citing the threat they pose to the security of the United States and its allies.
He added: The second point is that the American decision will isolate the international organization. This targets the external organization, which is responsible for the organization’s policies and discusses issues of concern to foreign countries and the organization’s branches in every country in the world.
The third point is that this decision will isolate the organization abroad and will be followed by European decisions that follow the same path as Washington.
The third point is that this decision will isolate the organization abroad and will be followed by European decisions that follow the same path as Washington.
Fifth, the decision comes within the context of redrawing the map of the Middle East. This is not at the level of geography and borders, but rather at the level of radical religious forces.
Sixth, this decision will isolate the organization in its country of origin, Egypt, and in Jordan. There, the organization (the Islamic Action Front party) had been afforded some space for political activity. However, the organization decided to resort to violence, which was met with resistance and confrontation from the Jordanian authorities.
Seventh: Washington sees a need to confront any radical Islamist organizations with a Shiite background, such as the Lebanese Hezbollah, as well as those with a Sunni background, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, as long as they threaten its security and the security of its allies.
Eighth: The siege of the organization and the imposition of a security cordon around it must be followed by the dismantling of the ideas upon which the organization is founded, so that its existence ends (organizationally and intellectually).
Ninth: The Brotherhood is capable of evading the decision and operating outside the classification law under other names. These names differ from the name “Muslim Brotherhood,” rendering the decision symbolic and ineffective.
Finally, he explained that the Muslim Brotherhood would experience a decline. This would be due to the siege and Washington’s decisions, both at the organizational level and in terms of the organization’s presence and its branches abroad.
