Cairo, Egypt – Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit received Libyan Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi on Wednesday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab Information Ministers Council meetings held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.
Emphasis on the importance of the university
During the meeting, the Libyan minister conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to the Secretary-General. He also affirmed Libya’s appreciation for the role played by the League of Arab States in supporting joint Arab action, and for the Secretary-General’s efforts on political and media issues.
Official invitation to visit Tripoli
Minister Al-Lafi also delivered to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States an official invitation from Prime Minister Dbeibah to visit the capital, Tripoli. This invitation underscores Libya’s commitment to strengthening communication and coordination with the League of Arab States on shared Arab issues.
For his part, Aboul Gheit welcomed the invitation. He affirmed the General Secretariat’s interest in following developments in Libya. He also emphasized its support for Libya’s efforts to achieve stability and strengthen its presence within the Arab world.
