New York, United States – US President Donald Trump said during a meeting with leaders of Arab and Islamic countries that his country will work to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
Trump added that this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on Tuesday, was great and represents the most important meeting I have ever had.
He explained at the beginning of the meeting that “this meeting will be important and we will discuss ending the war and perhaps ending it now.”
Invasion and genocide
It was reported by (T channel.R.T) TV quoted Erdogan as saying during the meeting that there is no war in Gaza, but rather an invasion and genocide.
He stressed that what is happening in the Gaza Strip is “the killing, destruction and forced displacement of Palestinians”.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, told the US President during the meeting that the situation in the Gaza Strip is very bad.
US proposal for peace in Gaza
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said Trump would hold meetings with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan.
A source familiar with the matter said that the meeting will address the situation in Gaza.
The Axios website reported earlier that Trump will present to the leaders of this group of countries a proposal for peace and the future of governance in Gaza after the war.
Axios expected that Trump would discuss the principles of Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the future of governance there after the end of the war without the participation of Hamas.
This is in addition to liberating Israeli detainees in Gaza and ending the war.
The website stated that the United States also wants Arab and Islamic countries to agree to send military forces to Gaza to help Israel withdraw and provide Arab and Islamic funding for the transitional and reconstruction phase.
Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip since October (October) 2023 has killed more than 65,000 Palestinians and caused famine.
Many human rights experts, researchers and a UN investigation estimated that this attack amounted to “genocide”.
Trump promised to end the war in Gaza quickly, but a solution remains elusive eight months after taking office.
Trump’s term began with a two-month ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which ended with Israeli raids that killed 400 Palestinians on March 18 (March).
Images of hungry Palestinians, including children, have recently sparked global outrage over the Israeli attack on Gaza.
In February (February), Trump proposed American control over Gaza and the permanent displacement of Palestinians from it.
Human rights experts and the United Nations described this proposal as “ethnic cleansing”.
Forced displacement is illegal under international law. Trump described the plan as a reconstruction idea.
