Moscow, Russia – The Kremlin responded on Wednesday to statements by US President Donald Trump. He described Russia as a “paper tiger”.
He stressed that Moscow is a strong country capable of defending its interests. The military operation in Ukraine will continue until its goals are achieved.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Russia is a bear, not a paper tiger, and there is no such thing as a paper bear”.
He added that President Vladimir Putin also appreciates “Trump’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine.”
Economic stability despite challenges
Peskov stressed that the Russian economy “maintains its stability” despite the ongoing Western sanctions since the outbreak of the war.
This is while acknowledging the existence of “problems in some economic sectors”.
But Peskov stressed that Moscow is capable of dealing with it and ensuring the continuation of the wheel of growth.
There is no alternative to continuing operations
The Kremlin spokesman stressed that “Russia has no alternative but to continue its own military operation” in Ukraine. This operation was launched in February 2022.
He pointed out that the goals Putin announced from the beginning still exist. These goals are “ensuring Russia’s interests and protecting its future for future generations”.
Field progress
Regarding the field, Peskov said that Russian forces are “advancing on all fronts”.
He considered that “the course of the war is clear” and that Moscow is moving forward with its strategy.
This is in response to Trump’s statements. He suggested that Ukraine would be able to regain all of its territory controlled by Russia.
Russia’s security is European security
Peskov added: “In our (Russian-American) relations, there is a path aimed at removing factors of resentment (…). But it is progressing slowly and its results are almost non-existent.
He also stressed that Russia is an integral part of European security. Therefore, Europe will not be able to guarantee its security at Moscow’s expense.
Peskov revealed, “European security cannot be dealt with at the expense of Russia’s security”. Moreover, regardless of what anyone says, so far Russia is an integral part of European security.
