Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Fars news agency reported on Saturday that explosions were heard near Kharg Island. It added that no signs of smoke or fires were observed in the area. Kharg Island is considered a vital oil artery for Iran. Before the war, it was the largest center for Iranian crude oil exports.
The Iranian news agency ISNA reported on Saturday morning, citing local sources, that an Iranian oil tanker was targeted in an attack off Kharg Island. The agency stated that the US military targeted the tanker with a missile.
According to reports, the targeted vessel was a small tanker, and no injuries were reported. However, the report remains unconfirmed by other sources at the time of writing.
