Washington, DC – Twenty-five US states have filed lawsuits against the Trump administration, challenging its recent tariffs. The states argue that these measures exceed the executive branch’s legal authority and harm their local economies and businesses.

The states participating in the lawsuits confirmed that the new fees will affect supply chains and commodity prices. The burdens on companies and consumers may increase. In addition, she added that it has potential repercussions on the movement of trade and investments within the United States.

Federal courts are expected to review the appeals in the coming period. This comes amid anticipation of outcomes that could have a direct impact on US trade policy, particularly given the ongoing debate surrounding the use of tariffs as a tool to achieve economic and trade objectives.

On the other hand, the Trump administration maintains that the recent measures are part of its plan to protect American industries and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy. The administration also confirmed that the fees aim to address trade imbalances and support the local product. While its opponents believe that it may lead to escalation of trade disputes and higher import costs.
