Jerusalem, Israel – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that his country will not allow Iran to rebuild its military capabilities or develop capabilities that could pose a threat to Israeli security.
He also stressed that Tel Aviv will continue to work to prevent Tehran from possessing a nuclear weapon.
Rejecting the return of Iranian capabilities
Netanyahu’s remarks came during a ceremony marking the handover of the Mossad’s leadership to its new director, Roman Gofman.
During the event, he addressed developments in the confrontation with Iran and the future of Israeli policy toward the Iranian nuclear program.
Netanyahu stated that Israel would not allow the Iranian regime to rebuild capabilities that could threaten its security.
He affirmed that his country would continue to take the necessary measures to prevent any strategic threat emanating from Iran.
He added that Israel would not allow Iran to “turn back the clock,” referring to
the redevelopment of military programs or capabilities that Tel Aviv considers a direct threat to its national security.
Adherence to the prohibition of nuclear weapons
The Israeli Prime Minister stressed that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a primary objective of the Israeli government.
He affirmed that Tel Aviv will not accept any reality that allows Tehran to develop military nuclear capabilities.
He indicated that Israel will continue to closely monitor developments related
to the Iranian nuclear program and will act as it deems necessary to protect its security.
Netanyahu’s statements come at a time of ongoing diplomatic activity
between the United States and Iran regarding the nuclear issue and related regional security matters.
US President Donald Trump had previously announced that talks with Iran were proceeding at a rapid pace.
This comes amidst international efforts to reach understandings regarding the Iranian nuclear program and the future of regional stability.
