Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi National Security Council affirmed the government’s categorical rejection of the use of Iraqi territory or airspace as a launching pad for any attack targeting Arab or regional countries. The Council also emphasized Baghdad’s commitment to the principle of non-involvement or involvement in any operations that threaten the security and stability of the region.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi has directed that all necessary legal and security measures be taken against any parties proven to be involved in using Iraqi territory to carry out or facilitate attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, should the information circulating prove to be true.
The Council of Ministers clarified that the Iraqi government is closely monitoring reports regarding the potential use of Iraqi territory for military activities or drone attacks. The Council affirmed that investigations are underway to ascertain the facts and determine responsibility.
It emphasized that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for any actions that threaten the security of brotherly nations or violate their sovereignty. This comes within the framework of Iraq’s commitment to international law and regional relations based on mutual respect.
