Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi National Security Council affirmed the government’s categorical rejection of the use of Iraqi territory or airspace as a launching pad for any attack targeting Arab or regional countries. The Council also emphasized Baghdad’s commitment to the principle of non-involvement or involvement in any operations that threaten the security and stability of the region.

A firm government stance

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zubaidi has directed that all necessary legal and security measures be taken against any parties proven to be involved in using Iraqi territory to carry out or facilitate attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, should the information circulating prove to be true.

The Council of Ministers clarified that the Iraqi government is closely monitoring reports regarding the potential use of Iraqi territory for military activities or drone attacks. The Council affirmed that investigations are underway to ascertain the facts and determine responsibility.

It emphasized that Iraq will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for any actions that threaten the security of brotherly nations or violate their sovereignty. This comes within the framework of Iraq’s commitment to international law and regional relations based on mutual respect.

Anticipated legal proceedings

The Prime Minister’s office affirmed that all legal and security options will be considered in dealing with any party proven to be involved in such acts. This is to ensure the protection of Iraq’s sovereignty and prevent any potential recurrence of violations.

It added that security and intelligence agencies are continuing to gather information and investigate the circumstances surrounding these accusations. This is in preparation for taking appropriate measures based on the final results of the investigation.

This stance comes within the framework of Iraq’s repeated affirmation of its rejection of the use of its territory or airspace in any regional conflicts. It also demonstrates Iraq’s commitment to strengthening regional stability and relations with neighboring Arab countries.
