Beirut, Lebanon – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced the allocation of approximately $650,000 to support the education of displaced people in Lebanon. This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of humanitarian crises on the education sector.
The organization explained that the funding will be directed towards implementing emergency education programs. These programs include providing learning materials and supporting host schools. In addition, UNESCO will strive to enhance access to education for the most vulnerable children and youth.
UNESCO emphasized that this initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the continuity of education during times of crisis. It also noted that education is a fundamental element in protecting future generations from the risks of school dropout and marginalization.
The education sector in Lebanon faces increasing challenges due to economic pressures and the growing number of displaced people. This places an additional burden on the educational infrastructure and necessitates international intervention to support it.
Observers believe this step reflects a growing awareness of the importance of investing in education as a gateway to stability, especially in societies suffering from multiple crises. Education contributes to building better opportunities for the future and reducing the long-term effects of displacement.
