Tehran, Iran – Officials have warned that Iran may seek to exploit any lull or temporary cessation of regional conflicts to rebuild and restore its military capabilities, which have been damaged recently. This comes amid escalating tensions in several of its spheres of influence.
Prioritizing defense
Estimates suggest that periods of pause in military operations or de-escalation may provide Tehran with an opportunity to recalibrate its defense priorities. This includes developing its missile systems and rehabilitating military infrastructure affected by the pressures and tit-for-tat strikes.
According to these analyses, Iran’s strategy relies on the principle of “repositioning” during periods of calm. Its aim is to enhance its readiness for any potential future confrontations, while focusing on maintaining a balance of deterrence in the region.
Military armament and development
She also noted that this trend could raise concerns among some regional and international actors. These actors assert that any rearmament or military development during periods of calm could lead to a new cycle of escalation later on.
In contrast, Tehran has not issued an official comment on these reports. However, it has previously maintained that its defense programs are solely aimed at protecting its sovereignty and national security against what it describes as external threats.
