Damascus – Syria
Both Syria and Turkey announced the launch of a joint strategic project called the “Four Seas,” in a move aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and opening new horizons for economic integration among countries in the region amid rapid political and economic shifts.
The project aims to connect four major bodies of water: the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the Arabian Gulf, through an integrated network of roads, railways, and energy lines, facilitating trade flows and the transportation of goods and energy between Asia and Europe.
According to informed sources, the project seeks to transform the region into a global logistics hub by developing infrastructure and boosting joint investments, supporting economic growth and creating wide job opportunities, especially in the transport, energy, and industrial sectors.
The “Four Seas” project also aims to reduce shipping costs and transit times amid global supply chain challenges, giving participating countries a competitive edge in international trade.
Observers believe this project reflects a shift toward redrawing economic alliances in the region and opens the door for other countries to join and benefit from its vital corridors, especially amid growing demand for major regional connectivity projects.
The announcement comes at a time when relations between Damascus and Ankara are gradually improving, increasing the chances of implementing such strategic initiatives that could contribute to economic stability and sustainable development in the region.
