Tel Aviv, Emarat Voice – In a new field escalation, the Israeli Army announced carrying out a series of intensive airstrikes targeting rocket launch sites belonging to Hezbollah in various areas of southern Lebanon.
The spokesperson for the Israeli Army confirmed in an official statement that the air force destroyed approximately 10 launch platforms in recent hours, which had been used to carry out rocket attacks toward settlements and cities in northern Israel.
The military statement said: “A short while ago, the Israeli Army began striking launch sites and military facilities belonging to Hezbollah inside Lebanese territory, in response to recent attacks targeting the Israeli interior.” The operation comes as part of efforts to reduce the group’s rocket capabilities and secure the northern border.
On the Lebanese side, the official National News Agency reported heavy Israeli airstrikes on several towns in the south, most notably Bint Jbeil. The town holds major symbolic and military importance, as Hezbollah previously announced fierce and direct clashes with Israeli soldiers attempting to advance around it.
Airstrikes also hit the village of Choukin, where a correspondent from Agence France-Presse observed rescue and civil defense teams arriving and beginning intensive search operations among the rubble for survivors or victims following the heavy aerial bombardment.
Following these strikes, sirens sounded continuously across wide areas in northern Israel, including the coastal city of Haifa and several towns in the Upper Galilee, amid a state of public alert.
However, no immediate reports of casualties were recorded as a result of rockets launched from Lebanon.
Later, the Home Front Command of the Israeli Army reassured residents, issuing instructions allowing civilians to leave shelters and resume daily life with caution, while emphasizing the need to remain close to protected areas in anticipation of any sudden field developments amid ongoing tensions and border clashes.
