Doha, Qatar – Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met today in Doha with Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Koumbous to discuss the escalating military situation in the region and its repercussions on regional and international security and stability. They also discussed its economic impact on various countries around the world.
The importance of freedom of navigation
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global trade and energy. They stressed the need to maintain its stability in light of escalating tensions.
Warnings of targeting infrastructure
The Qatari Foreign Minister warned of the dangers of targeting vital infrastructure, particularly water, food, and energy facilities. He also stressed the need to stop Iran’s unjustified attacks on Qatar and other countries in the region.
Call for peaceful solutions
Both sides stressed the importance of strengthening international coordination and intensifying joint efforts to contain the crisis. They also emphasized the need to return to the negotiating table and prioritize peaceful solutions to ensure global energy security and regional stability.
