Washington, DC – US Defense Secretary Pete Haigset announced Wednesday that US-led military operations against Iran have completely destroyed the country’s military manufacturing capabilities. He asserted that Tehran has lost its ability to build missiles or develop any advanced weapons as a result of the concentrated airstrikes.
Destroying the defensive pillar
“We have completely destroyed Iran’s defense industry complex, which was the cornerstone of our military mission,” Hedges said at a press conference. “The Iranians can no longer build missiles.” The minister explained that Iran’s acceptance of the two-week ceasefire was the result of “intense pressure.” The acceptance came just hours before the deadline set by President Donald Trump for the most destructive phase of the campaign against Iranian infrastructure.
Trump’s “mercy” in exchange for the agreement
Hegsett noted that President Trump chose to show “compassion” by not completely crippling the Iranian economy within minutes. This came in response to Tehran’s acceptance of the terms of the truce.
He added, “The new Iranian government realized that reaching an agreement was far better than the grim fate that awaited them.” He pointed out that a “regime change” had begun to take shape following the killing of Ali Khamenei and several other top military and political leaders in the country.
Ready to resume attacks
For his part, General Dan Kaine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, emphasized that the US military remains on high alert. He affirmed its complete readiness to resume attacks should the order be given by the Commander-in-Chief. Kaine stated, “Let’s be clear, the ceasefire is a temporary measure, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff remain fully prepared.” The US Secretary of Defense concluded the press conference with a stern warning, indicating that the United States is working “behind the scenes” to ensure Iran’s strict adherence to the ceasefire terms agreed upon on Tuesday. He stressed that any violation would be met with an immediate and decisive military response. Observers believe these statements foreshadow a de facto military surrender, through which Washington aims to transform the temporary truce into a permanent disarmament of Tehran’s strategic weapons.
