Kuwait – Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed the urgent need to restructure the League of Arab States to align with the complexities of the current phase and the rapidly evolving challenges facing Arab nations. He also emphasized that developing the system of joint Arab action has become an immediate necessity in light of regional and international transformations.
Growing challenges require urgent reform
The minister explained that the Arab region is going through a delicate period characterized by intertwined political, economic, and security crises, which necessitates that Arab institutions be more flexible and efficient in dealing with these challenges. He added that continuing to rely on traditional mechanisms is no longer sufficient to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples or protect their common interests.
A vision for developing joint Arab action
He noted that restructuring should include modernizing decision-making mechanisms and strengthening coordination among member states, contributing to a faster and more effective response to crises. He also called for adopting new visions focused on economic integration and enhancing collective security, thereby supporting stability and development in the region.
Strengthening the university’s regional and international role
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister stressed the importance of empowering the Arab League to play a more influential role at both the regional and international levels. This can be achieved through institutional reforms that enhance its efficiency and increase its capacity to engage with global issues. He noted that the current phase requires a collective political will to achieve a qualitative leap in the course of joint Arab action.
