Washington, DC – A US newspaper has asserted that Iran remains capable of harming US and allied interests in the region, despite President Donald Trump’s claims of diminishing Tehran’s military capabilities and weakening its regional threat threat.
According to the report, US military and strategic experts indicate that Iran still possesses advanced weaponry, missile capabilities, and naval power. These weapons enable it to target ships and vital interests in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, despite the economic and political pressures imposed on it in recent years.
The newspaper explained that US assessments confirm Iran’s continued development of its military and technological programs, including drones and precision missiles. This makes it a force that cannot be ignored when considering regional and international risks.
The report indicated that this reality compels the United States and its allies to reconsider their deterrence and maritime security strategies, especially given the ongoing tensions in the Gulf, where any potential escalation could directly impact energy flows and global oil markets.
Analysts emphasized that Trump’s statements about “weakening” Iran did not reflect the reality on the ground. Nevertheless, despite the sanctions, Tehran still retains significant deterrent capabilities and options. This renders any assessment that underestimates its strength inaccurate.
