Tel Aviv, Washington – The US Marine Corps has deployed F-35A and F-35C fighter jets to the Middle East as part of an air buildup to counter Iran.
This deployment coincides with airstrikes also involving Israeli F-35I Adir aircraft,
according to the American website The National Interest.
Capabilities of fifth-generation fighters
The F-35 Lightning II stealth aircraft is capable of penetrating deep
into Iranian territory and evading advanced air defense systems.
Furthermore, it continues to neutralize threats.
On the other hand, one F-35A aircraft was hit by ground fire this month,
forcing it to make an emergency landing.
This did not affect ongoing operations.
Deployment of naval fighters
Ten F-35C fighter jets from the 311th Naval Attack Squadron (Tomcats) arrived at RAF Lakenheath
in the UK from California. This deployment precedes their deployment to secret bases in the Middle East.
This marks the first combat mission for these aircraft in the region.
More fighters are expected to arrive in the coming days.
Specialized copies and their role
The F-35C is more robust and better suited for carrier operations.
Meanwhile, the F-35B, a shorter-range, vertical takeoff and landing variant, is based on the amphibious
assault ship USS Tripoli at Diego Garcia, part of a 2,200-strong rapid reaction force.
This deployment signals the United States’ readiness to expand its air and amphibious operations against Iran
while simultaneously prioritizing force safety and mitigating immediate risks.
These actions are part of a broader effort to bolster air superiority and undermine Iran’s nuclear program.
Simultaneously, diplomatic efforts are underway to continue political negotiations in the region.
