Paris, France – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted on Friday that America is capable of achieving its objectives in Iran without the need to deploy ground troops,
during his participation in the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting near the French capital, Paris.
G7 agenda
The meeting focused on the war in Iran, with Rubio asserting that US operations
were proceeding according to plan and expected to conclude within weeks.
He clarified that any Russian support for Iran would not impede Washington’s efforts,
noting that they were awaiting Tehran’s official response to the proposal to end the war.
The White House’s stance and Tehran’s deadline
The White House, under Donald Trump, had previously announced America’s
readiness to take decisive steps if Iran did not respond,
setting a deadline of April 6 for engaging in serious negotiations.
An official Iranian response is expected on Friday, according to informed sources.
Implications and impact of the Iranian response
The anticipated Iranian response will be an indicator of the course of upcoming negotiations
and Washington’s ability to impose its conditions without resorting to direct ground intervention.
Rubio’s statement reflects the US administration’s commitment to unconventional strategic options,
focusing on diplomatic and economic pressure to shorten the conflict and protect US forces and their allies in the region.
