Manama, Bahrain – The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force announced today, Saturday, March 28, 2026, the success of its air defense systems in countering a series of large-scale attacks targeting the Kingdom. The official statement confirmed that the armed forces, in the past 24 hours alone, intercepted and destroyed 20 ballistic missiles and 23 suicide drones. This reflects the high efficiency of Bahrain’s deterrent systems in confronting intense aerial threats.
Outcome of military operations and interceptions
The General Command revealed shocking statistics on the scale of Iranian aggression since its inception. Air defenses successfully destroyed a total of 174 missiles and 385 drones targeting civilian infrastructure and vital sites. The Command clarified that these indiscriminate attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the UN Charter. They also pose a direct threat to regional security and peace, emphasizing that targeting private property and civilians is a crime that cannot be tolerated.
Bahraini Interior Ministry safety procedures
On the ground, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior reported that Civil Defense teams successfully contained a fire that broke out in one of the facilities damaged by shrapnel from the clashes. The Ministry had sounded sirens in the early hours of the morning and urged citizens and residents to remain calm and immediately proceed to the nearest safe locations and designated shelters to ensure their safety.
