Tehran, Iran – The early hours of Sunday morning witnessed a dramatic military development inside Iran. Local media and eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions that shook the cities of Hamadan and Isfahan. Moreover, a state of maximum security and military alert prevailed in the region.
Intense and continuous overflights by warplanes
According to initial reports from the scene, these explosions coincided with intense and continuous overflights by warplanes in the skies over central and western Iranian provinces.
Iranian media sources indicated that these airstrikes, described as concentrated, are believed to be the result of a joint military operation carried out by US and Israeli forces. This move suggests the regional confrontation has entered a new phase of direct conflict.
In an attempt to counter this extensive air attack, Iranian authorities activated air defense systems at several strategic locations. Interceptor missiles were observed being launched over Isfahan and Hamadan in an attempt to intercept hostile targets.
Panic among residents
Field sources confirmed that the sounds of anti-aircraft fire continued for an extended period. This coincided with the continued overflights of fighter jets that broke the sound barrier in several areas. Consequently, this caused widespread panic among local residents.
Despite the intensity of the bombing and its evident impact on the targeted areas, no precise official details regarding the nature of the targets destroyed or the extent of human and material losses resulting from these raids have been released as of the time of this report.
The cities of Isfahan and Hamadan hold significant strategic importance due to their hosting of vital and sensitive facilities. These include major air bases and military research and development centers. As a result, their targeting marks a qualitative shift in the ongoing military operations.
