Beirut, Lebanon – Lebanese authorities announced that the death toll from the attack targeting ambulance crews in Lebanon has risen to 26, with 51 injured. This initial count reflects the scale of the tragedy suffered by paramedics while performing their humanitarian duty at the scene of the conflict.
Official sources stated that ambulance crews were targeted while en route to rescue and transport the wounded. This resulted in a large number of casualties among the paramedics who were working to evacuate the injured from areas of tension.
Authorities clarified that the injured were transferred to several hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, emergency and civil defense teams are continuing search and rescue operations amidst challenging field conditions.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that medical and ambulance personnel were carrying out their humanitarian duty when the attack occurred. It also noted that the assault on paramedics constitutes a serious violation of international laws guaranteeing the protection of medical teams during conflicts.
Meanwhile, official and humanitarian bodies called for an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the incident and the identification of those responsible. They emphasized the need to protect rescue teams, which play a vital role in saving lives during crises.
