Dubai, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
This is within the framework of his working visit to the Emirates.
Review of bilateral cooperation relations
During the meeting, bilateral cooperation relations and opportunities to enhance joint work between the two countries were reviewed.
Especially at the level of economic and investment cooperation and expansion in the field of trade and tourism exchange in light of the two countries’ distinguished investment attraction capabilities.
In a way that serves the comprehensive and sustainable development goals of both sides, and brings goodness and prosperity to the two friendly peoples.

Discussing military escalation
The meeting touched on all current regional developments and the military escalation taking place in the Middle East.
The major challenge it represents casts a shadow over the future of security, stability and development, both regionally and globally.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum praised the Ethiopian position in support of the UAE. The measures followed by the state aim to affirm national sovereignty, ward off danger, and respond to blatant and unjustified attacks.
His Highness also expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed and the Ethiopian people for the victims of the floods and landslides that recently occurred in the southern regions of Ethiopia.
He stressed that the UAE stands by the friendly Ethiopian people in this ordeal.

For his part, His Excellency the Ethiopian Prime Minister expressed his country’s condemnation of the attacks that targeted the United Arab Emirates and a number of sister countries in the region.
He stressed that these attacks represent a blatant violation of international laws, conventions and norms.
He also affirmed Ethiopia’s full solidarity with the UAE in its courageous stance in defending its capabilities. Its legitimate right to take all necessary measures to protect its development gains and ensure the safety of its people and everyone residing on its land.
During the meeting, the importance of finding ways to immediately stop all acts of escalation taking place in the region was emphasized.
