Pyongyang, North Korea – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, accompanied by his daughter Kim Ju Ae, toured a North Korean ammunition factory. There, they tested and fired prototypes of domestically developed new pistols. This move reflects Pyongyang’s growing focus on bolstering its military capabilities and modernizing its weapons systems.
Photos released by North Korean state media showed Kim Jong Un inspecting the production lines inside the factory. He then fired one of the new pistols. His daughter was also seen alongside him, observing the weapons’ field tests.
According to reports, Kim Jong Un praised the new weapon’s efficiency and precision manufacturing. He emphasized that developing the military industry is a strategic priority for the country in light of the security challenges it faces. He called for redoubled efforts to increase military production and modernize combat equipment.
The North Korean leader also stressed the need to accelerate innovation in the defense industry. He explained that this would ensure the armed forces are equipped with modern and advanced weapons capable of enhancing the North Korean army’s readiness.
Observers believe that the appearance of the North Korean leader’s daughter at such military visits carries political and symbolic significance. Her presence at military events has increased recently, sparking speculation about the role she might play in the future within the ruling regime.
This visit comes at a time when North Korea continues to develop its military capabilities amidst escalating regional tensions in East Asia. This development persists against the backdrop of the ongoing confrontation with the United States and its allies over Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs.
