Pyongyang, North Korea – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has directed that all resources be used to support the nuclear program. This was reported by state media on Saturday.

This is in order to “sharpen the nuclear shield and sword” to protect the country’s sovereignty and national security.

Kim met with senior officials and scientists at North Korea’s nuclear weapons research institutes on Friday, the Korean Central News Agency said.

He said the country’s “top priority” was to continue developing a nuclear response stance.

The agency added, “Comrade Kim Jong Un said that we must constantly sharpen and renew the nuclear shield and sword. This is to reliably ensure national sovereignty, security, interests and the right to development”.

Kim Jong Un noted that possessing a strategic nuclear capability is “a reliable guarantee of future security”.

Earlier, Kim Jong Un announced, during his speech before the 13th session of the Supreme People’s Assembly, that the Democratic Republic of Korea had acquired a new secret weapon.

It has also made significant progress in defense research and development.

The Korean leader stressed that his country would not trade anything in exchange for lifting sanctions.

He stressed that he categorically ruled out the possibility of nuclear disarmament.

He justified this by saying that the possession of nuclear weapons is provided for by law. Additionally, the government is obligated to protect this right.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung said North Korea has sought for decades to implement a nuclear weapons program.

Its efforts included a secret uranium enrichment operation that allowed the production of up to 20 nuclear weapons each year.
