Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet during ongoing military operations on several fronts in Ukraine. The ministry confirmed that Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses in personnel and equipment in recent hours.
In an official statement, the ministry explained that Russian air defense systems detected the fighter jet and successfully engaged it before it could carry out any combat missions. It also indicated that the aircraft crashed in a combat zone after sustaining a direct hit.
The statement added that Russian ground and air operations also resulted in the elimination of approximately 1,505 Ukrainian soldiers during sporadic clashes along the contact line. In addition, a number of armored vehicles, military equipment, and Ukrainian troop positions were destroyed.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Russian forces continued to carry out concentrated strikes against command posts, ammunition depots, and Ukrainian troop concentrations. It stated that these operations were part of what it described as “weakening the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army.”
In the same vein, Moscow explained that missile and artillery units conducted precision strikes against military targets in several areas, including drone launch sites and fuel and ammunition depots. This resulted in significant damage to the Ukrainian forces’ logistical infrastructure.
These developments come amidst ongoing military confrontations between Russia and Ukraine, which have persisted for over two years. Furthermore, fighting has intensified on several fronts, with both sides claiming territorial gains in various areas of the battlefield.
