Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Saudi Civil Defense announced that two people were killed and 12 others injured when a projectile struck a residential area in Al-Kharj Governorate. This incident comes amid escalating military tensions in the region.

The Saudi Civil Defense explained in a statement that the incident occurred on Sunday when a projectile landed in a residential area, resulting in casualties and injuries among the residents. Emergency and ambulance teams responded to the scene and provided assistance to the injured.

Details of the victims and injuries

The statement indicated that the two victims were residents, one an Indian national and the other a Bangladeshi national.

The accident also resulted in injuries to 12 other people, who were transported to hospitals for treatment. Authorities are monitoring their health conditions.

Targeting radar systems

In a related development, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) previously stated that it targeted radar systems at sites inside Saudi Arabia, including one in Al-Kharj province.

The Iranian announcement came amid escalating military tensions in the region in recent days, with exchanges of fire and attacks between various parties.

Escalating regional tensions

These developments come at a time of heightened security tensions in the region. There are also growing international concerns about the potential for the clashes to escalate and impact regional stability.

Saudi authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, emergency response teams are working on-site to address the aftermath of the projectile strike and secure the area.
