Doha, Qatar – Japan Airlines has extended the suspension of all its flights to the Qatari capital, Doha, until March 15. This comes amid ongoing security tensions and rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East region. These tensions are also causing disruptions to air traffic in the region.
Precautionary safety measures
In an official statement, the company said the decision to extend the flight suspension is part of precautionary safety measures taken to protect passengers and flight crews. It confirmed that it is continuously monitoring security and field developments in coordination with relevant international civil aviation authorities.
Japan Airways added that the suspension includes all scheduled flights between Tokyo and Doha during the specified period. Alternative options have been provided for affected passengers, including rebooking on later dates or a full refund.
Escalating regional tensions
The decision comes at a time when the Middle East is experiencing widespread disruption to air traffic. This follows escalating regional tensions and the closure of several air routes. As a result, these developments have prompted many international airlines to reassess or temporarily suspend their flights due to safety concerns.
Aviation industry experts believe that the continued suspension of some international flights to the region reflects the level of concern among global airlines, particularly given the increasing risks associated with airspace in conflict zones. This could lead other airlines to make similar decisions in the coming days.
