Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Prime Minister announced a package of measures and preparations undertaken by the government to accommodate those displaced from the southern regions. This comes amidst rapidly escalating security developments in the area.
Preparing emergency shelters
The Prime Minister explained that relevant authorities have begun preparing temporary shelters in several governorates. This is being done in coordination with the relevant ministries and relief organizations to ensure safe housing for families forced to leave their homes. He confirmed that schools and public facilities have been prepared to receive displaced persons in accordance with public health and safety standards.
Providing humanitarian support and basic services
He noted that the government has developed a comprehensive plan to secure the basic needs of displaced persons, including food, water, healthcare, and psychological support. In addition, there is coordination with international organizations to provide urgent assistance. He emphasized that the top priority is protecting civilians and ensuring their dignity under the current circumstances.
A call for national and international solidarity
The Prime Minister called on all political and social forces to unite in confronting the repercussions of the crisis. He also urged the international community to intensify its support for Lebanon during this critical period. He affirmed that the government is monitoring the situation on the ground daily and is prepared to take further measures to ensure the absorption of any potential additional waves of displacement.
