Kuwait – Kuwaiti authorities have announced exceptional measures to grant residents who have been unable to return to the country a three-month leave of absence. They will be fully exempt from any fees due during this period. This step aims to alleviate the burden on residents stranded abroad due to travel restrictions or international travel restrictions.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated that these facilitations apply to all residents whose residency permits have expired or who have faced difficulties returning. The Ministry emphasized that the decision was made to support both citizens and residents. It also confirmed that this measure is intended to address unforeseen challenges that may hinder a timely return.
The ministry added that this measure allows residents to protect their legal status without incurring fines for overstaying or losing their residency. It stressed the importance of applying through official channels to ensure full benefit from the exemptions.
This announcement comes at a time when international travel is facing unprecedented challenges due to security and health restrictions. For this reason, Kuwait has adopted flexible mechanisms to support residents and mitigate the consequences of forced absence from the country.
Authorities also indicated that these facilitations may be extended or modified depending on developments in the international situation. They affirmed their commitment to facilitating procedures for residents and safeguarding their legal and administrative rights.
